Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
- Prepare nutritious and delicious meals in accordance with specified menus, dietary requirements, and portion sizes.
- Assist in planning menus, considering factors such as nutritional balance, dietary restrictions, and camper preferences.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness of kitchen facilities.
Kitchen Operations:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen environment.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies and kitchen equipment.
- Operate kitchen appliances and equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions and guidelines.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to coordinate meal preparation and service schedules.
- Communicate effectively with camp directors and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and address any dietary concerns or special requests.
Camp Support:
- Assist with general camp duties and activities outside of kitchen responsibilities, as needed.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive camp environment for campers and staff alike.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Willingness to submit to a criminal background check (instructions provided upon offer of the position).
- Previous experience in food service, culinary arts, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot kitchen environment.
- Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by camp schedule.
- Desire to serve.
