Description
The Grounds Supervisor/Maintenance Assistant oversees the upkeep, safety, and operation of campgrounds and facilities, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for campers and staff. This role combines leadership in groundskeeping, facility maintenance, safety protocols, and guest services while promoting environmental stewardship and outdoor recreation.

Key Responsibilities:

Grounds Maintenance:
  • Supervise and perform landscaping, mowing, weeding, pruning, and trail maintenance.
  • Maintain outdoor facilities, sports fields, trails, waterfront areas, and recreational equipment.
  • Coordinate safety inspections, address hazards, and implement safety protocols.
  • Promote cleanliness and sustainability through waste management and recycling programs.

Facility Maintenance:
Assist with:

  • Performing or overseeing the maintenance and repairs for buildings, cabins, bathrooms, dining halls, and other structures, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Maintaining camp equipment, tools, and vehicles, ensuring proper operation and safety.
  • Managing inventory of maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools, and coordinating procurement processes.

Safety and Environmental Stewardship:
Assist with:

  • Conducting regular inspections to address safety hazards and enforce safety protocols.
  • Promoting environmental awareness, conservation practices, and sustainable waste management.
  • Supporting emergency preparedness and response plans.

Logistics and Guest Services:
Assist with:

  • Coordinating seasonal setup and breakdown of camp facilities.
  • Serving as a point of contact for campers and visitors, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Fostering a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all guests and staff.
Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Willingness to submit to a criminal background check (instructions provided upon offer of the position).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certifications preferred.
  • Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or facilities management.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire to serve.
